In April 2004, the Grevi Company opened its first shop dedicated exclusively to Grevi creations in Florence in Via dell Spada, 11. The shop in Via della Spada is indeed the first retail outlet in Italy and the world exclusively to sell Grevi products.
The design of the Grevi Shop deliberately creates an atmosphere full of the past and Grevi’s history: naturally oxidized iron fixtures include interesting textures left behind by the rust itself; all the crystal light brackets are unique in their own way and belong to different historical periods (from the 1920s to the 60s); and, the vintage varnished paper covering the pullout wall/shelving unit is part of a collection of past catalogue numbers (1940/1960). The geometric design of the furnishings overall clearly recalls Mondrian and the Bauhaus style.
All the furnishings are without exception made by hand and provide a fitting and charming environment for the Grevi hats and accessories.
The lighting fixtures are all adjustable. The flooring indicates the women’s, men’s and children’s areas.
The overall effect is that of a self-contained little ‘world’ which incorporates odds and ends from the past in a modern, light updated setting in which the Grevi craftsmanship, style and care for detail is highlighted to its best advantage.
